Treatment

Partial Hospital Program

Our Partial Hospital Program (PHP) offers support and treatment to allow adolescents (12-17) and adults with eating disorders to remain in their communities and reduce their need for care in more restrictive clinical settings. The program structure and format allows patients to practice their newly-acquired self management skills at home in the evenings.

Our program is designed for adolescents and adults leaving residential or inpatient treatment and needing additional structure to continue their recovery, as well as individuals whose clinical condition does not require acute residential or inpatient care, but requires more than outpatient or intensive outpatient programs.

Our program meets five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

We offer a variety of therapies to help patients overcome their eating disorder in our non-institutional, safe, structured and supportive environment. PHP provides meal and snack time support therapy and numerous groups. The adolescent group program provides opportunities to address developmental concerns specific to adolescents struggling with eating disorders as well as time to coordinate school work and keep current with academic demands. The adult group program provides opportunities to explore developmental concerns specific to adults with eating disorders, as well as time focused on balancing career and family demands with self-care.

PHP groups include psycho-education, bibliotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal, expressive and experiential therapies and focus on topics such as self-esteem, body-image, interpersonal relationships, assertiveness, nutrition, leisure and recreational activities, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, stress management, relapse-prevention and aftercare planning.

A multidisciplinary team of professionals develop and implement individual treatment plans for each patient. This team includes a psychiatrist, registered dietician, psychologist, social worker, and other clinicians. Nutritional planning, psychiatric assessment, and medication management are key components to care, as well as comprehensive psychiatric assessment. Each treatment plan includes individual, family, nutritional, and group treatment designed to focus on the specific eating disordered behaviors, as well as other issues, each individual presents
